LA CROSSE SPEEDWAY
WEST SALEM, WI
It was a hot and humid Saturday for the start of the KUL BREW 300 weekend. With temperatures in the low 90s it made for a long hot day of practice and qualifying. This was Chriss first visit to this track with an ASA car. Chris had previously raced an Artco/Remax car and a Super Late model car during the Octoberfest Race weekend.
Chriss first hot lap session was not a good one posting a time of only 20.834 . The crew had their work cut out for them to try and get the car handling better in the next practice session. The next practice session proved to be a lot better where Chris posted a time of 20.341, which is 110.614 miles per hour. That time was 14th fasted for that session.
Chris qualified in the 14th starting position with a time of 20.311, 110.777 mile per hour.
Chris steadily moved his way up through the pack and ran consistently in the top ten all day. He was running in the 8th position when he felt something wrong in the front end. They thought at first a tire was going flat but upon inspection found 2 broken wheel studs. ASA officials made Chris park the car with only 25 laps remaining.
Chris was looking forward to his second top 10 finish in a row. Unfortunately he finished 17th completing only 278 laps of the 300-lap race.
Chris is currently 16th in ASA points.
