Round 14 of the 20 race ASA Racing Series took the Wimmer Racing Crew to a hot and humid Toledo, Ohio. The crew was able to put together a great race car by Sunday. Chris was able to get a feel for this fast race track during the 3 practice sessions held on Saturday. In the 1st practice session Chris was 19th and in the second session he was 24th fastest of the 40 entries. The crew made some major changes, which Chris obviously liked because he posted the 11th fastest in the 3rd and final practice session with a time of 16.569 (108.637 MPH). This momentum would carry him into qualifying where he qualified 13th with a time of 16.573 (108.610 MPH).
Temperatures on race day soared to 95+ degrees but it wasnt too hot for Chris. He was able to keep pace with the leaders by running in the top 10 most of the race (he was as high as 6th). His hopes for a top 10 finish were shattered when he was a victim of a spin from the #44 car driven by Peter Cozzolino, and had front-end damage, which would eventually cause the car to over-heat. After numerous pit spots in which the crew attempted to cool the engine, the crews efforts failed when the overheating persisted. He was only able to complete 267 of 300 laps for a 24th place finish.
Chris is currently 14th in ASA points.
