Scott Wimmer On Nazareth: Scott Wimmer, driver of the No. 23 Bill Davis Racing Pontiac, makes his second start at Nazareth Speedway.
The track is really a drivers track because it take a lot of mental focus because the it is shaped so strangely than any other track we race at, said Wimmer. Every turn is different, so it is hard to get in a groove sometimes. The car will handle good in one area and be off in another area. You have to compromise to find a balance and you will never have a perfectly handling race car there.
Last Years Race at Nazareth: Wimmer seeks a better finish than he had last year at Nazareth.
“Last year I blew a tire 10 laps into the race and hit the wall, so the day was a struggle from there on out, said Wimmer. We ended up repairing the car to get me back on the track to get laps for experience. The car was really competitive even though we had some damage, so I feel we have a good shot at having a strong finish this year.
On the Points Race: Wimmer currently sits 10th in points, only 72 points behind the fifth-place driver.
Everything right now is on the up, said Wimmer. We have closed the points dramatically to fifth-place. There are only 72 points separating us at 10th place from the fifth-place driver. Our goal is to sit in the top-six by the break before Milwaukee. Weve had strong runs and put ourselves in good positions, but just havent had things fall our way yet. Now matter how good you are, luck does play a factor into these races.
Equipment: The Bill Davis Racing Team is taking the same car to Nazareth that raced the previous two races at Richmond and Loudon, where it finished eighth and 11th, respectively.
This year I feel a lot more confident going into the race at Nazareth, especially with the runs we have had lately, said Wimmer. We are taking the same short track car that has been successful for us the past few weeks, so I feel strongly that we can post another strong finish.
Scott Wimmer Nazareth Appearances:Wimmer will sign autographs from approximately 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Chevy Trucks Plaza on Nazareth Speedway property.
