Phoenix International Raceway
Wimmer on Phoenix: Scott Wimmer returns to Phoenix International Raceway as the defending race winner for the NASCAR Busch Series. In three starts, Wimmers average finish at the 1-mile oval is 9.0.
Phoenix International Raceway is such a fun place to race, said Wimmer. The track gets so slick due to the sun and heat they have out there and the pavement is older, which makes for an interesting combination to race on. You need a good balance on your car there. The fastest way around the track is the bottom groove, but the corners are different, so you have to attack them differently. Youll never be perfect in both corners, so you have to give up something in one to be better on the other end.
Phoenix is one of my most favorite tracks to go to on the circuit each year, said Wimmer. The track is just awesome and the folks at PIR seem to improve on it each year we come back. The addition of the tunnel this year is great. Phoenix also has great weather and some of the most amazing scenery we see all year.
Phoenix Test: Wimmer tested at Phoenix International Raceway on October 14th and 15th
I tested our Cup car out at Phoenix but I think what we learned out there will help both our Busch and Cup programs, said Wimmer. Mostly, we worked on race runs and trying to get a good balance on the car. What we lost in turns three and four, we gained on in turns one and two. Thats one thing well work on come race weekend.
Appearance: On Sunday, November 2nd, Wimmer will visit the Stacker 2/YJ Stinger interactive sampling/display trailer located on Phoenix International Raceway property. Please check with the trailer for exact time of appearance.
Equipment: Wimmer and the No. 23 Stacker 2/YJ Stinger team are taking the same car to Phoenix they competed with earlier this year at Loudon (finished fifth), both Nashville Superspeedway races, Bristol fall and Dover fall.
Special Paint Scheme: Scott Wimmers No. 23 NASCAR Busch Series car will sport a special paint scheme featuring Stacker 2s newest product, YJ Stinger. This is the same car the team ran at the Dover fall race and the car is painted three different colors to promote the three different flavors of YJ Stinger. YJ Stinger is Stacker 2s extreme energy drink, totally ephedra-free and available in three lightly carbonated flavors: Sinful Citrus, Pounding Punch and Enraged Raspberry. Enraged Raspberry is also available in a Sugar Free formula.
