The 4 Report Pocono

News

Primary Sponsor: Aero Exhaust

Driver: Scott Wimmer

Associate Sponsors:  Wide Open Performance Energy Drink, Players Extreme Spirits, Coyote Ugly Saloon, Tuff Country, Kodak

Owner:  Morgan-McClure Motorsports

Manufacturer:  Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS
Race:  Pocono 500, Pocono Raceway

Scott Wimmer and the Morgan-McClure Motorsports team headed to Pocono Raceway for the Pocono 500, hoping to rebound from a frustrating weekend at Dover.  During Friday’s practice, the No. 4 Aero Exhaust Chevrolet stacked up in the middle of the speed charts, only running five laps in the session, before ending up with the 40th fastest speed.

Wimmer, along with the Chris Carrier-led crew, made the changes thought necessary to improve the performance of the car.  Despite an improvement of nearly two (2) mph (six tenths) during qualifying, an early qualifying draw would work as a disadvantage.  The result, a qualifying effort that was not fast enough to make the starting lineup.

Not participating in the race resulted in a drop to 39th place in owner’s points, 186 points out of the coveted 35th place.

This week:  Scott Wimmer and the Morgan-McClure Motorsports team head to Michigan Speedway for the 3M Performance 400.  Catch the Aero Exhaust Chevrolet in action on Sunday, June 18, 2006 @ 1:00PM (TV: FOX/ Radio: PRN)

Quotes:

Chris Carrier: Crew Chief

“We are obviously very disappointed with the result at Pocono.  We felt like after practice we were good enough for qualifying and, coupled with our early draw, it turns out we weren’t.

This is a very proud organization, one that has a very successful history.  We are not a team that is satisfied with just making the race.  Because of that, we have been working and preparing more for the race and, as a result, our qualifying has suffered.  With us not being in the top 35 in points, we have to qualify every week and this week it bit us.  This is not an excuse.  We have to work to become a better race team, from top to bottom.”
