Morgan-McClure Motorsports # 4 Aero Exhaust Chevrolet quotes from Auto Club 500 Race, Fontana, CA

Larry McClure, President, Morgan-McClure Motorsports:

“We had the start of our racing season with Scott Wimmer today and while I was hoping for a much better finish than 39th, I did see our team improve throughout the race. We were working together for the first time with new pit crew members and a new driver and everyone was learning how to work together – it will take time for us to be as good as we can be, but I can already see improvement.  I was happy with Scott’s performance and input and the teamwork from everyone.  We are looking forward to getting to Las Vegas in two weeks. We had a good test out there in January and I think we will have a good performance when we go back there in two weeks.”

Scott Wimmer, driver:

“The car was really loose at the beginning and we worked on it throughout the race and got better.  We ran out of gas during a green flag run and that hurt us, but the pit stops were pretty good throughout the day. You can feel our team coming together more each time we are on track. It wasn’t the best day but it wasn’t the worst day either. It will take time for us to be as good as we can be and we are all working toward that goal. I think we will do well in Las Vegas – our testing was pretty good there and at Kentucky so I’m looking forward to racing there in two weeks.”

Chris Carrier, Crew Chief:

“Our first goal this weekend was to make the race, which we did. Our second goal was to have a good run and get as many owner’s points as possible. Our 39th place finish wasn’t what we had hoped for, but it’s a start. It was our first points race with our new pit crew members and with Scott as our driver. We still have room to improve, but I feel that we are much better than last year and we are moving in the right direction. Our next goal is to go to Las Vegas and qualify for that race and then to perform like we know we can.”
