SCOTT WIMMER QUOTES:

You haven’t had much success at Talladega in the past.  What are you expecting with an RCR car?

“I am really excited about going down there is some quality equipment.  I have had some good runs but I have also been in the wrong place at the wrong time.  We had a good run at Daytona and overcame some problems to finish in the top 15.  We are taking the same car but I think that we have made it better.  The engine department has been working hard to give us more horsepower.  Talladega is all about speed and handling doesn’t matter as much.  I think we will have a fast car and, hopefully, we can stay out of the wrecks and not have any mechanical problems and be there at the end.”

What are your thoughts on restrictor plate racing?

“I am not a huge restrictor plate fan and am by no means a master of speedway racing.  This year at Daytona was the first time that I was able to run that new Busch Series package with the wickerbill on the front and the wickerbill on the spoiler.  I thought the cars drafted well and handled well.  I have run well on them but overall I still have a lot to learn.  Our main focus is to finish the race and then to finish up front.”

How important is drafting at Talladega?

“It is real important to draft well and it is important to have teammates in the race.  I am fortunate that I am going to have two teammates in the race and a lot of support from other Chevrolet drivers.  At places like Daytona and Talladega you need to have support on track.  I drafted well with Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart at Daytona along with other Chevy drivers.  Hopefully we can do the same thing at Talladega.  Kevin’s (Harvick) car was fast at Daytona and so was Clint’s (Bowyer) so, hopefully, all three cars can hook up and get to the front and have a good day for Richard Childress.”
