Wimmer on Bristol: Wimmer makes his 60th career NASCAR Busch Series start this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Last year was the first time I raced at Bristol in the night race and finished sixth, said Wimmer. Im real excited about this weekend, especially doing double duty in both the Cup and Busch race. Ive only competed at Bristol three times now and Ive done real well there each time. Im not sure why I do well there, but maybe it is because it gets me back to what I began racing, short tracks under the lights at night. I just love racing short tracks because of all of the energy and fans. Bristol has a real neat atmosphere; it pumps me up and I love it. Our test with our Winston Cup car went real well. We had really good cars to gauge ourselves with and our times were good in comparison.
The King of Concrete: Of the nine times Wimmer has raced on concrete surfaces, he has posted seven top-10 finishes, with an average finish of 7.2. Of the four races in 2002 on concrete surfaces, Wimmer has three top-five and four top-10 finishes.
WC Equipment: The Siemens Racing team is taking the same car to Bristol that attempted to qualify for the NWC Chicago event earlier this year.
NBS Equipment: The Siemens Racing team is taking the same car to Bristol that competed earlier this year Richmond, Loudon and Nazareth.
Bristol Testing: The Siemens Racing / NWC team tested at Bristol Motor Speedway on Tues., August 13th & Wed., August 14th
Beyond Double Duty: Thought that Wimmer had a busy schedule going back and forth between garage areas at Bristol? Check out what he has to do over the weekend: He will test on Monday, August 26th and Tuesday, August 27th, then travel to Kentucky Speedway to test on Wednesday, August 28th and Thursday, August 29th, finally traveling to the upcoming race weekend in Darlington on Thursday evening.
