No. 23 Stacker 2/YJ Stinger Chevrolet Monte Carlo Lowe’s Motor Speedway

News

Wimmer on Charlotte: Scott Wimmer, driver of the No. 23 Stacker 2/YJ Stinger Chevrolet, will make his sixth Busch Series start at Lowe’s Motor Speedway this weekend.

“Everyone likes to run well at Lowe’s Motor Speedway because it is close to home and so many friends and family attend the race,” said Wimmer.  “It seems like a lot of the newer tracks are modeling themselves after Charlotte, being a 1.5-mile track, but all of those tracks are much different than Charlotte.  Lowe’s has more years on the pavement and it is very rough, which makes for good racing.  The fastest way around it is not at the bottom, like so many other tracks are.  You can move up the track and make your car work better.  It isn’t as fast as some of the other 1.5-mile tracks as it has lost grip over the years and also because of all the bumps.  The track is so weather so sensitive; the most weather sensitive track on the circuit.  Because of the pavement being so old and the roughness of the track, you car’s handling can vary with even just a cloud passing overhead.  It is a crew chief’s nightmare in setting up a car because the track changes so quickly.”

Charlotte Test: Wimmer and the Stacker 2/YJ Stinger team tested at Charlotte on Monday, Sept. 29th and Tuesday, Sept. 30th

“I felt like our test at Lowe’s Motor Speedway went really well,” said Wimmer.  “We were down there for two days and got to test a night.  I feel like what we accomplished will help when it comes to race weekend.  We mostly focused on race runs.  We posted good times and feel we should be strong come race time in our Stacker 2/YJ Stinger Chevrolet.”

Equipment: Wimmer and the No. 23 Stacker 2/YJ Stinger team are taking the same car to Charlotte they competed with earlier this year at Kansas where it finished seventh, won with at Pikes Peak and raced at Kentucky where it qualified 10th and finished fifth.

Appearances: Wimmer will make an appearance at the Stacker 2/YJ Stinger display trailer located on Lowe’s Motor Speedway property on Friday, October 10 from approximately 3:30 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.

Another Wimmer: Wimmer’s younger brother, Chris Wimmer, who currently competes full-time on the ASA Series, will compete in the ARCA event at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in a Dodge fielded by Bill Davis Racing.
