Chris Wimmer 08: Nashville Race Report:

News

PRESS RELEASE

Under hot steaming skies with temperatures hovering around 95 degrees, the Craftsman Truck Teams took to the track at Nashville Super Speedway on Friday for their 2 (1) hour practice sessions in preparation for Saturdays 11:00 AM qualifying. This was to be an impound race so once qualifying was over the trucks were impounded until the start of the race.

Chris struggled with the handling during the first practice session with a loose – off condition. His fastest lap was only good for 30th position. The crew immediately started to work on solving that problem during their one-hour break. Upon Wimmer’s return to the track for the second practice session he immediately picked up a lot of time with the changes. The crew ran out of time to try some more changes before doing their mock qualifying runs but Chris still ended up 19th overall.

As the trucks rolled onto the track for qualifying on Saturday the temperatures were rising into the 90’s again. The # 08 Chevy Silverado team had drawn the 28th spot for qualifying right in the middle of the mid day sun. Chris qualified a disappointing 27th mainly because of not getting the adjustments done during their mock runs.

After a three-hour break for the ARCA race the Craftsman Truck Series trucks hit the track for the start of the Toyota Tundra 200. As the green flag dropped Chris started to move his way to the front moving as high as 17th when a tie-rod broke almost sending him into the turn one wall. Chris hung on and did a great job of keeping it off the wall and out of the way of traffic. Chris brought his truck to the pits for the crew to check over. Unfortunately there was enough damage that they decided to pull it behind the wall for the remainder of the race. Chris finished a disappointing 34th

Chris on his finish at Nashville:  I was very disappointed that I was not able to finish the race here at Nashville. The truck was running great and we were moving up through the pack until the tie-rod broke. I feel we could have had one of our best finishes ever. We had a new associate sponsor this week www.huntforland.com and I feel bad that we weren’t able to give them the finish we had hoped for. I’m hoping that we can put some more races together with Green Light Racing. I enjoy working with Bobby Dotter and Gene Christiansen and the whole Green Light crew. They are a great bunch of guys.

We are currently looking for Sponsors for future races. If anyone is interested please contact us at wimm25@wimmerracing.com or 715-571-4434.
