Wimmer on his first Brickyard 400
Im looking forward to going to Indy, said Scott Wimmer, driver of the #22 Caterpillar Dodge. There is so much history and prestige at that track, its exciting to be racing there. It will be my first race there so Im excited to get there and run well. I think we have a good shot at running decent, especially after a good test and then having run well in Pocono. Its a track that has those long straight-aways and tight turns, a lot like Pocono so well see what happens.
Stoddard on the Brickyard 400
I think the CAT team had a very productive test at Indy, said Frank Stoddard, crew chief of the #22 Caterpillar Dodge. We mostly made race runs and felt like we had a decent baseline to start with, but we need to be a little faster. We did take some things we learned from the Indy test and applied it to the Pocono race and they really seemed to work. So, well take that info back to Indy with us and see what happens. Its going to be really important to get an early draw there for qualifying because it is early in the morning and the later you go, the hotter it will be and you wont get the speed you need.
Cat equipment for the Brickyard 400
Wimmer and the No. 22 Caterpillar team are taking car #82, the same car they raced at Michigan International Speedway in June. The team qualified 29th and finished 14th in their first outing at the track. They tested at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with car #82 following the race in Chicago and were pleased with the results.
Special Paint Scheme for the Brickyard 400
The Cat #22 car has a special paint scheme this weekend. It honors the Cat Rental Stores and their customers. Currently, there are close to 400 Cat Rental Stores and they rent more than just Cat equipment. For the Brickyard 400 race, the Once Source Account managers from the Cat Rental Stores are hosting their customers. By the way, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a customer of the local Cat Rental Store, MacAllister Rental and Supply.
CAT Team News
The Caterpillar team left Pocono Raceway and returned to Watkins Glen International to test for a half day after being rained out last week. The team was able to turn several laps and felt like they were much more competitive compared to how they tested at Infineon Raceway. The team was preparing for next weekends race at Watkins Glen International, the last road course event of the season.
BDR Team News
Scott Wimmer will have a teammate this weekend for the Brickyard 400. Tony Raines will compete in the #23 Bill Davis Racing Dodge. Raines will attempt his second start in the famed race. In 2003, Raines started 33rd and finished 25th.
